Maverick was my first, adopted as a puppy in early 2020, right as the world was getting weird. He's had some medical challenges over the years that gave him a bit of anxiety around new people, but once you're in his circle, you're in for life.
He might seem standoffish at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is one of the most loyal dogs you'll ever meet. And when it comes to other dogs? Pure joy.
Luke came into our lives as a foster and never left, as it should be. He's everything Maverick isn't when it comes to people: outgoing, full of energy, and convinced that every human on earth is his personal best friend.
But the most special thing about Luke? He became Maverick's protector. Ever since Maverick's medical issues, Luke has been by his side, a guardian in a dog's body. They're a team.
